Tips for booking and staying in Dog friendly hotels
- Check Pet Fees, Policies, Weight Limits, and even Breed Limitations: Remember to read the fine print. Some hotel policies list the pet fee per day and others list it per stay. You will find a lot of hotels have a weight limit of 50 pounds. Always double check directly with the hotel regarding their pet policy!
- Request a First Floor Room: It’s not a bad idea to request a first floor room. It will make potty breaks a lot more convenient. If you aren’t able to get a room on the first floor, my suggestion is to not share the elevator with other passengers and your dog when possible. It may freak your dog out or other guests.
- Bring Vaccination Records: Most hotels will require you to bring your vaccine records to prove that your dog is up to date on their shots. I’ve never been asked to show proof of this, but we always have them on hand just in case. You don’t want to get turned away because of this!
- Always Confirm Your Room: Even if you book online and request a pet friendly room, always call after your reservation is placed to make sure there isn’t any miscommunication. The last thing you want is to show up with your dog and the hotel not have a dog friendly room booked for you.
